Lombok, Indonesia – October 2025
When the engines roared once again at the Mandalika MotoGP Grand Prix, the global spotlight shone brightly on Lombok. The event drew enormous international crowds and glowing reviews, cementing its status as one of the most impressive venues on the world racing calendar.
For the developers of Marina Bay City Lombok, it was a moment of validation. Lombok had proven it could host the world — and now, Marina Bay City plans to build the infrastructure to make it a permanent global destination.
A Vision for a Modern, Sustainable City
Marina Bay City is a multi-billion-dollar master-planned city now underway in South Lombok — envisioned as Indonesia’s first modern planned city built on the principles of balance, wellness, and sustainability. Combining residential villas, luxury hotels, retail precincts, marinas, and wellness facilities, the city aims to attract global citizens, investors, and travelers seeking a more conscious and connected lifestyle.
“Mandalika showed that Lombok can successfully host world-class events,” said a Marina Bay City spokesperson. “We’re building on that foundation — with facilities designed for global conferences, sports, and cultural gatherings right here in Marina Bay City.”
Convention Centre: Gateway to Global Conferences
Construction begins in 2026 on the Marina Bay City Convention Centre, a landmark project designed to host international events. The first phase will cover 2,500 square metres, accommodating over 1,000 guests theatre-style, and can later expand to 5,000 square metres to hold 2,500 delegates. This venue will make Lombok a serious contender for global summits, destination weddings, and corporate conventions, positioning it as a high-end alternative to Bali and Singapore.
Sports Stadium: A Home for International Competition
Marina Bay City has also unveiled plans for a multi-purpose sports stadium, initially seating 10,000 spectators with room to expand to 20,000 as the city grows. Invitations have already been extended to Australia’s NRL and AFL to explore annual international matches in Lombok, leveraging the island’s proximity and shared fan base. The venue will also host Asian sporting events, including athletics, football, and rugby, as well as large-scale concerts and festivals.
“Sport is more than entertainment — it’s culture and connection,” said the spokesperson. “Our stadium will bring people together, celebrate diversity, and create experiences that will echo across Asia.”
Connectivity: Bali to Lombok in Just 90 Minutes
One of Lombok’s greatest challenges has been flight access — but major change is coming. Jetstar and Virgin Australia are considering direct routes from Australia to Lombok, while regional carriers already operate from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and China. Marina Bay City is also planning a catamaran service directly from Bali, reducing travel time to around 90 minutes, compared to several hours via northern ports.
Lombok’s Bright Future
With its pristine beaches, thriving tourism, and growing international profile, Lombok is quickly emerging as Indonesia’s next investment and lifestyle destination. Marina Bay City stands at the centre of this rise — creating a sustainable, connected, and globally relevant city that reflects the island’s natural beauty and growing economic power.
“Lombok is no longer Bali’s quiet neighbour,” said the Marina Bay City spokesperson. “It’s the future of Indonesian tourism — and Marina Bay City will be its crown jewel.”
